Tom Thompson, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Thompson is also the Chairman &  Chief Executive Officer of Enviro Ambient Corporation.

Prior to joining Enviro Ambient and the Foundation, Mr. Thompson was the Chief Executive Officer of Eco Power Solutions. During his nine year tenure with Eco Power, Mr. Thompson drove the expansion of Eco Power from Canada to the United States, generated significant equity investment for the company, accepted the 2010 Most Promising Energy and Clean Technology Company award at the 8th Annual Rice Alliance Energy and Technology Venture Forum, and developed sales channels into the global markets that will benefit Enviro Innovate, its partners and stakeholders.

Mr. Thompson’s tenure at Eco Power was preceded by his ten year career as President & Chief Executive Officer of Capital Business Management Group, a member of the Thompson Corporation, an asset management company. Mr. Thompson’s tenure with Capital Business Management Group followed exemplary service in a senior management capacity with Canada Trust, The Royal Bank of Canada and First City Trust Company.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Thompson is a member of the New England Canada Business Council, the Volunteer Past Chair of the ALS Association – Massachusetts Chapter, and a founding member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Energy Committee.

Dr. Steven Liss, Director

Dr. Liss is Ryerson University’s Vice-President, Research and Innovation, and a professor of Chemistry and Biology in the Faculty of Science. He is an experienced academic leader who has played a significant leadership role in the advancement of university education at the undergraduate and graduate levels at several universities. His recent return to Ryerson, April 2017, follows a decade of distinguished service at the University of Guelph and at Queen’s University, where he served as Vice-Principal (Research) and a professor of Environmental Studies and Chemical Engineering since 2010.

For his contributions to Canada’s research and innovation ecosystem, Dr. Liss was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. He has also held positions on a number of boards and councils: he was the Chair of the Ontario Council on University Research (OCUR) for 2015-16, and Chair of the Board of Management of TRIUMF, Canada’s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, for 2014-2016. He has played an important leadership role nationally in the advancement of support for digital infrastructure as the founding co-chair of the Leadership Council on Digital Infrastructure (LCDI) and a founding board member and Corporate Officer of Compute Ontario. He currently sits on the board of Compute Canada, and previously served as the inaugural Chair of the Review Panel for the Ministry of Research and Innovation, Ontario Research Fund Research Excellence program (Environment and Emerging Technologies Panel).

Dr. Liss is an internationally recognized researcher in the areas of environmental biotechnology and engineering, as well as wastewater and water management. He is also well known for his work in applied microbiology, which focuses on bioflocculation, microbial structures, and the fate of contaminants in engineered and natural environmental systems. Dr. Liss has an impressive funding track record, including industry and international support. He is an elected member of the Management Committee of the International Water Association Specialist Group, Microbial Ecology in Water Engineering (MEWE), and he has served as an elected researcher representative on the board of the Canadian Water Network.

His recent honors include a Visiting Professorship at the Advanced Environmental Biotechnology Centre affiliated with the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore (2016); a Visiting Professorship with the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at Tongji University in Shanghai (2015-2018); and the position of High-end Foreign Expert of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs for China.

Veronica Medina, Director

Ms. Medina brings over 20 years of experience in international business development, having assisted companies in expanding their businesses to markets such as Canada, Europe, South America and the United States. This work has been in multiple sectors, with specific focus on industries such as biotechnology, environmental, energy and renewable energy, health, mining, ICT, and infrastructure.

Ms. Medina is currently the CEO of BusinessHUB Ltda., an international consulting firm assisting foreign companies in their objectives to enter the markets of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. BusinessHUB is part of Alcalde & Cia, a prestigious law firm who provide a full range of services to companies looking at these markets. Ms. Medina most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at TradeChile S.A. As COO, Ms. Medina focused on international business development, operations, global sales and negotiations for clients in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentina.

Prior to TradeChile, Ms. Medina was the European Manager for the Colorado Trade Office in London and served as the Information and Outreach Co-coordinator for the Colorado International Trade Office. Her past experiences include working as the Medical Information Manager at the biotechnology firm Gensia Europe Ltd., Drug Surveillance Officer for Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), and Events Organizer at the British Red Cross. Ms. Medina has lived and worked in various countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, England, Italy, Peru, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

Ms. Medina has a Certificate in International Trade from the World Trade Center Denver & Metropolitan State College in Colorado. In addition, she earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen, in Scotland and an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Dallas, Texas.
